she's a big sis now
and walked on her tiptoes in the NICU to keep the volume down for the babies.
I asked her what she thought of them: "So cute! They have cute noses!".
.
.
And how bad can it be to come to the NICU every day when this is the view? Lucky babies!

photo class
I submitted a photo to Times and Seasons and they posted it on their webpage.
I am no photo pro for sure... I think it was Stella's hairdo that was the deciding factor!
Take a peek. Here's the link:

TRUE BLUE
Surprise!
Stella is going to be a

I am 16 weeks pregnant! With twins! And we are going to be...

BOYS SQUARED! Can you believe it! What are we going to do with them?! We are both so shocked, there are just no words. I didn't even think it was a possibility. After all, how likely is it that a twin boy (ahem, man) would ever have his own twin sons? But how wonderful!!
.
We are sure that the babies are in separate amniotic sacs, which is a great thing; fewer complications. So it's pretty unlikely that they are identical.
.
I have had some issues already but things are stabilizing now. We are still anticipating them to be early. My technical due date is 11/4, but the doctors estimate they'll be born around 34 weeks, which puts us at the end of September.
.
We are struggling with names. They cannot rhyme or start with the same letter. I did appreciate my nephews' suggestions (ages 4 to 9), which included:
.
Swiper and Diego
Buzz and Woody
.
And from the family:
Stone and Rock
Ice and Maverick (personal fave)
.
I am a little nervous about the boy thing, so all of you boy parents out there, please tell me how rad it is and how good life will be! Cheers to BLUE and BLUE!

Randi Brunt photography
My friend Rechelle (Jeremy's mom) and I had our family's Christmas card photos done by Randi Brunt, a phenomenal photographer and also a wonderful person. Randi puts her clients' shoots up on her blog. Take a look at Jeremy here - she wrote a really lovely summary of Jeremy's situation. This is my kid who is all grown up... 13 years old this year, what a miracle. He was only 4 when I started taking care of him. You can also see some of our family pics. Just act surprised when you get our Christmas card, ok?

Spent a pretty day at the beach... it felt like Hawaii
with the humidity and sort of overcast skies... loved it.

sea world with the cousins

Our dear friends the AZ Nelsons met us at Sea World. We let the kiddies run amok. Neither J or I have been in 20+ years, so it was a really fun time. { Though he was in a bad mood about our booth picture (above) - I adore booth pics but J says only bad things happen in dark little curtained-off booths. The picture says it all. I love the lone pigtail }
We also wanted to issue an apology to the nice man who sold us his free passes from his work: you saved us $50! But Jason double-checked with the security guard that they were legit, who promptly asked the nice man to leave. Sorry about that... Here are our adventures:

from the mouths of babes

At 18 months Stella is talking quite a bit.
A week or two ago we finally had some family time after a long week of hard work schedules - I don't think we ate dinner together once or spent more than a few minutes together the whole week.
Jason came home from work and Stella jumped into his arms, then she looked at him and said, "Daddy!" Then looked at me and said, "Mommy!"
She repeated this a couple of times, then paused and said, "HAPPY." Oh we melted right there. She gets it.

BBB
We just celebrated all our May family birthdays at our annual Big Birthday Bash and it was awesome. Thank you Dara for my *moist* cake and thanks everyone for the great gifts! Stella sported her new itsy-bitsy polka dot bikini with her water wings, and Adam loved Uncle Jeff. And our snapping turtle was a big hit. { PS who is the short girl?? Remind me to always wear heels at the Draegers. }
